Lawsuit Pending Against Proposed Development

Some residents believe that the size and density of the proposal are too great, and that the project would not fit into the neighborhood. They say a traffic problem already exists in the area of Passaic Avenue and Chestnut Street, and that the project would only worsen the problem, citing two new restaurants opening in the area right now. There are also concerns about  fire safety, as site plans show only one exit from the proposed underground parking garage.

Residents also worry about additional water runoff which the project might create, as some say they already have flooding problems in their yards and basements, especially following heavy rains.

Parking issues were also discussed. Citizens say that parking is already scarce and, with new businesses opening along both Chestnut Street and Passaic Avenue, the project would only worsen parking problems.

The proposed height of the structure in relation to the existing buildings in the neighborhood was also cited as an issue by residents. At three stories, they fear it will dwarf existing structures.
