NUTLEY GOVERNMENT

With the introduction of the township's Web site, meeting dates can typically be found at http://www.nutleynj.org/Boards.aspx. Meetings are held at the Township Municipal Building, 1 Kennedy Drive, Nutley, unless otherwise specified. Note that the township's web site is not always up-to-date. So, interested citizens are advised to call the Code Enforcement Dept. for confirmation and additional information. The general number is (973) 284-4957. Staff of the Code Enforcement Department manage the calendar and agenda for both the Zoning and Planning Boards.

The Nutley Zoning Board publishes its annual calendar of meetings in various newspapers of record each December. Below, in green typeface, are the 2008 meetings as published during the month of December 2007 in accordance with the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act. These meetings are typically held in the Commission Chambers which are located on the 3rd floor of Nutley town hall, One Kennedy Drive. Meetings begin at 7:30 P.M. The Board does change its schedule and calls special meetings as necessary with advance public notice required by the New Jersey “sunshine laws." Below, in green typeface, are the 2008 meetings as published during the month of December 2007 in accordance with the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act. These meetings are typically held in the Commission Chambers which are located on the 3rd floor of Nutley town hall, One Kennedy Drive. Meetings begin at 7:30 P.M. The Board does call special meetings as necessary with advance public notice required by the New Jersey “sunshine laws.” For meetings where a large turnout is expected, the Planning Board uses the Commission Chambers on the 3rd floor of Town Hall. ■ BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
The Nutley Board of Commissioners usually meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. The order of events typically consists of a "conference meeting" of the Commissioners beginning around 6 PM and is held in the conference meeting room at the back of the Commission Chambers. The conference meeting is open to the public and allows the Commissioners to review the
main meeting agenda in a slightly less formal environment.

The "conference meeting" is followed by a formal, "general meeting" of the Commissioners in the main chamber starting at 7:30 PM. This general meeting is likewise open to the public and is held in the Commission Chambers on the 3rd Floor of Town Hall. Ordinances and resolutions are formally introduced and voted upon during the general meeting. Public comment is usually invited when specific ordinances are under review.

The general meeting usually concludes with an invitation by the Mayor to those present to address the Commission on any
